Creative Writing for Social Change is four two-hour creative writing workshops using virtual exchange methodology. New groups of six people start on a rolling basis throughout the year.
Part of the challenge of any intercultural dialogue is facilitating participants to open up about their personal experiences that have shaped their views and beliefs and made them the person they are. Creating an environment that enables groups to share the details of influential life events through creative writing allows for the growth of deep empathy.
Creative Writing for Social Change is for adults of any age and any background to dialogue and write creatively about the social issues that are most important to them, whether that is Islamophobia or Antisemitism, Patriarchy or Neurodiversity, Nationalism or Climate Change, Sexuality or Democracy.

Why creative writing?
Stories have a unique ability to engage the mind and heart. They have the power to inspire social change by connecting the reader emotionally with characters who have different beliefs and experiences from themselves. Stories allow the author space to unpack complex social issues through engaging narratives that draw the reader into their world and grant them a new perspective. Stories create empathy by taking the reader on a journey of discovery; and characters who have overcome adversity can inspire and empower.
Why virtual exchange?
Virtual exchange is an educational approach that uses technology to connect people from different backgrounds to interact, collaborate and learn from one another without leaving their home, making it accessible to a broad audience. Virtual exchange is increasingly recognised as a valuable tool for promoting global citizenship and bridging cultural divides by fostering critical thinking, resilience, empathy, curiosity, and an appreciation of diversity.
Professional training
Many organisations measure their effectiveness by writing impact reports, yet their staff lack the creative writing skills to communicate their impact persuasively.
Our team can deliver training to your staff to up-skill them in the use of narrative-driven approaches in their reports to tell social impact stories.
